Job Description

Accountant II Payable Location Remote in Austin, TX : Full time Work from home Position. This position audits and reconciles purchase orders/contracts and receiving documentation through the agency CAPPs. The position is responsible for verifying that all necessary and required supporting documentation is available for all purchase of goods/services and client service payment vouchers. The position interacts routinely with purchasers, program staff, budget analysts, business managers, vendors and representatives from the Comptroller of Public Accounts and Texas Building and Procurement Commission. Completes and issues receiving reports for all new purchase orders issued for DFPS. Completes data entry for all receipts. Submits requisitions for goods/services needed for accounting department. The position evaluates the effectiveness of procedures and recommends streamlining alternatives. Essential Job Functions: Responsible for supporting the DFPS procurement business processes. Responsible for providing technical advice and assistance to agency requestors. Work includes assisting all requestors in the ordering and receiving of goods/services. Responsible for assisting requesters in problem resolution. Responsible for developing and running queries and creating reports to support business processes and provide data to upper management, auditors and other stakeholders. Responsible for updating training manuals and on-line information. The position is responsible for verifying that all necessary and required supporting documentation is available for all purchase of goods/services and client service payment vouchers. Completes data entry for all receipts. Submits requisitions for goods/services needed for accounting department. The position evaluates the effectiveness of procedures and recommends streamlining alternatives. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge Skills Abilities: Knowledge of leadership principles, techniques and practices. Skill in effective verbal and written communication. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting maintenance of records. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to use a personal computer to research, track and enter accounting information. Ability to perform financial analysis; to interpret statutes; and to analyze, evaluate and summarize financial records for accuracy and conformity to procedures, policies and rules.Ability to prepare clear and concise correspondence regarding accounting transactions. Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Ability to handle multiple projects and meet demanding deadlines. Strong organizational skills in aptitude for detail. Ability to work overtime as required to meet agency deadlines and goals. Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines. Ability to prioritize, plan and coordinate work. Registration or Licensure Requirements: Initial Selection Criteria: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Have accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, financial operations, banking, procurement/purchasing or budget experience.
