Job Description

Overview:

The Registrar’s Office is seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant Senior who will contribute to our dynamic and collaborative team. This position reports directly to the Accountant Senior and is an essential member of the student accounts receivable team. This person will provide significant support to the Accountant Senior and to the Registration Team through process coordination, workflow management, and quality assurance of completed tasks.

Responsibilities:
  • Work both independently and in conjunction with the Accountant Senior in all functions managed by the Accounts Receivable Team.
  • Assist in processes to calculate, build, and maintain necessary functions related to tuition and fees.
  • Build, maintain, and apply student exemptions for faculty, staff, and dependents.
  • Provide support to departments in reporting their fee income.
  • Coordinate with the Controller’s Office on all student financial issues.
  • Reconcile daily tuition revenue and receivable files.
  • Post student refunds daily.
  • Monitor university systems to resolve errors within student information system (Banner).
  • Analyzes reports and reconciles difficult discrepancies and problems.
  • Prepare 1098-T statements for students and IRS.
  • Assist in maintaining detail code table, including application of payment rules to achieve optimum results.
  • Work closely with Veterans Resource Office to resolve payment discrepancies and other applicable processes.
  • Assist students, faculty, staff, and administrators with registration and fee payment and with inquiries regarding USU policy and procedures.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Provide proactive solutions to avoid future problems.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four years of bookkeeping, accounting, or other related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and databases.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Banner student accounts receivable system.
  • Experience in higher education accounting.
  • Knowledge of higher education.

Advertised Salary: Minimum of $45,000; Commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits ADA:
