Position Overview:

Home by Hattan + Build is seeking a student or recent graduate with interests in Interior Designer/Architecture to join our team. This position will be part-time in Nashville, TN at our home office. 

We are seeking proactive and organized candidates with an understanding of design. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, dependable, and willing to learn. 

As an Associate Designer, you will be involved in different stages of the design process, including but not limited to meeting with clients, recording meeting notes, preparing presentations, sourcing and preparing quotes, vendor/trade communications, measuring, drafting and rendering, and administrative duties under the guidance of the Principal Designer.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to execute design tasks after direction is given.
• Able to keep up with tasks, prioritize duties and work efficiently and thoroughly. 
• Effectively communicate design concepts. 
• Understanding of space planning principles. 
• Understanding of color and design principles. 
• Software Knowledge: Gmail, Google Calendar, One Drive, Asana, Design Files, PowerPoint, Excel, Canva, AutoCAD, Sketchup (or Rhino or other rendering software) 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or related field. 
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SketchUp. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Access to reliable transportation. 
• Laptop or portable computer with rendering software. 
• A portfolio showcasing previous design projects in college or employment. 
• Honesty, professionalism, and a positive team-player attitude. 

Responsibilities:

• Email Correspondence and inbox management. 
• Coordinate client and vendor meetings and manage Principal Designer schedule. 
• Maintain and organize client files, project files, presentations, pricing documentation and client meeting notes. 
• Organize and proctor team meetings and manage meeting minutes. 
• Manage Client projects via Asana and keep track of next steps. 
• Organize & maintain office: including samples & papers. 
• Occasional help with client presentations, testimonials, client gifts, blog and social posts. 
• Participate in client site visits to measure and photograph existing spaces. 
• Create and edit space plans, construction documents, elevations, millwork and cabinetry details, technical documents and specification schedules. 
• Create Design Boards and Mood Boards to share Design Concepts and Selections, 
• Attend ongoing client site and vendor meetings to assist, take notes and work on follow-up needs after the meeting. 
• Assist in pricing, gathering quotes and creating proposals. 
• Source options for fabric, furniture, fixtures, finishes, hardware, tile, and anything else needed for client projects to help prepare for presentations. 
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and tradespeople to ensure project details and timelines are met. 

Location

Our office is in Nashville, TN. This is an in-office role and will require some off-site visits to clients’ homes or showrooms. 

Compensation

This is a part-time position paid hourly. Compensation is $35 per hour. 

Hours

Monday-Friday 15-20 hours weekly
