Job Description

Associate Specialist - Sall lab

Area of Specialization / Responsibilities:
General neuroscience, developmental neuroscience and inflammation. Some oversight of postdoctoral trainees and technicians is expected but the candidate will largely be responsible for coordinating and independently carrying out experiments as well as interpreting and presenting results. The candidate will work independently with input from principal investigator. The candidate will prepare manuscripts and help with the preparation of grant proposals. Managing animal colonies and multiple cellular and molecular resources is expected.

Required Qualifications:

  • Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD plus postdoctoral experience with publications in neuroscience or neuroimmunology related fields.
  • Have knowledge and skills in the areas of immunology, inflammation and neuroimmunology.
  • Expertise in cannabinoid and Trp receptors and biology preferred.
  • Experience with animal behavior assays preferred.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
