Store Manager - MUDHOUSE SPECIALTY COFFEE ROASTERS

Salary $45,000- $50,000 yr + Benefits: Bonus program, Health Coverage, PTO/STO, Mudhouse Discounts, Yearly Performance Pay Reviews and more!

We’re looking for strong leader for our our Charleston cafe and garden event space! The Store Manager is responsible for all day-to-day cafe operations, meeting the cafe financial goals, and exemplifying the highest level of customer service and hospitality. Mudhouse Specialty Coffee Roasters have been in the specialty coffee industry for over 32 years. John and Lynelle, our owners started out on a bicycle cart and grew their dream to what is now which is 3 locations based out of Charlottesville, VA, one in Charleston, SC and most recently our newest in Richmond, VA. We also own an experimental coffee farm in Volcan Baru, Panama where we are focused on growing geisha coffees. Our 6th location in will be located in Alexandria, VA and is projected to be open by the middle of 2025.

Mudhouse is an award-winning roaster, winner of Roast Magazine’s Micro Roaster of the Year, multiple Good Food Awards, and a triple medalist in the Golden Bean 2019. Most recently our roaster placed second in the National Roaster competition at SCA. Mudhouse is founded on the pledge to source coffees that are of exceptional quality and are grown in a socially responsible and ecologically sustainable manner. Mudhouse fosters direct trade relationships with dedicated farmers and producers around the world and builds relationships of trust and understanding with their importers. We work directly with producers and importers to ensure that we are providing our customers with high quality, well sourced coffees that you can feel good about drinking.

About You

  • Minimum 1 year Store Manager experience in food and beverage - Cafe, Restaurant, or similar.
  • Preferred Coffee Experience, Preferred Beer/Wine Beverage Program experience
  • Professional and experienced in guiding teams of people
  • Passionate person who loves coffee and people
  • Event management experience - initiating and running special events
  • Community and business outreach
  • Is a self-starter who loves to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Has a “can do” mentality and is an excellent problem solver
  • Knows how to delegate and to get things done
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong, motivational and inspiration skills
  • High attention to detail and high standards for quality and presentation, organized
  • Empathetic people-person who has high customer service standards
  • Knows how to maintain boundaries between between professional and personal life
  • Plans for the unexpected

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Leads the cafe team to develop goals, align priorities, and execute initiatives in line with the company’s larger goals.
  • Knowledgeable and capable in every role within the cafe.
  • Is present in the cafe to ensure high customer service standards
  • Assisting the team with problem solving efforts
  • Increasing team effectiveness & morale
  • Conducts regular team meetings
  • Conducts individual check ins with staff members as needed
  • Demonstrates the highest level of customer service and professionalism
  • Works 45-50 hours per week in-store plus more if needed for business
  • Interviewing and Hiring, On-boarding and Training
  • Scheduling and labor management
  • Staff Performance Evaluations and One on One’s.
  • Advises and informs staffing actions to Area Director or D.O.
  • Handles cash and bank funds/deposits responsibly and securely
  • Inventory management - keeping everything in supply to maximize sales potential
  • Light Mechanical: lights, restroom fixtures/drainage, coffee equip. maintenance.
  • Meeting monthly COGS, Sales & Labor Targets
  • P&L Analysis and other financial reporting
  • Payroll Management

Experience:

  • Store Manager: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Servsafe Certified (Preferred)
  • ABC MART certification (we can provide training and certification))
