Shape the Future of Public Media as a Chief Revenue Officer

Rhode Island PBS and The Public’s Radio are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking opportunity to join our team as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). This newly created position is pivotal in redefining public media for Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts during a transformative time in our history. Following our merger in the spring of 2024, we’re poised to amplify our impact, deepen our community connections, and deliver innovative, high-quality content across all platforms.

At RIPBS-TPR, we are more than media. We’re storytellers, educators, and community builders. Our mission is to ignite imagination, explore our shared history, and celebrate the rich diversity of our region. Through civic engagement and trusted programming, we aim to educate, inspire, and empower. Now, we’re looking for a visionary to help us reach even greater heights.

 The Role

As CRO, you’ll be a key architect of our future. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll develop and execute a strategic vision for revenue growth that aligns with our mission and values. Leading a dynamic team, you’ll oversee underwriting, development, membership, and major giving, ensuring we achieve our ambitious goals while fostering a collaborative, innovative culture.

 Why Join Us?

  • Lead a mission-driven organization at a pivotal moment of growth and innovation.
  • Collaborate with talented teams committed to serving and enriching our communities.
  • Shape the evolving role of public media in Rhode Island and beyond.

 What You’ll Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Drive growth through innovative revenue strategies and metrics-driven results.
  • Team Building: Cultivate a high-performing, unified team aligned with our mission.
  • Revenue Generation: Engage sponsors, donors, and community leaders to meet financial goals.
  • Collaboration: Partner across departments to align programming, marketing, and operations with revenue initiatives.
  • Partnership Oversight: Manage partnerships to maximize performance.

 Leadership Requirements

A dynamic, results-oriented leader with:

  • A proven track record in revenue generation, team leadership, and change management.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, management, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in development, fundraising, or business development (public media experience is a plus).
  • A passion for mission-driven work and a deep alignment with the values of PBS and NPR.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, strategic vision, and a commitment to collaboration.

 Compensation and Details

This role is office-based with some travel (15%-25%) and occasional evening/weekend commitments. Salary is commensurate with experience. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
