Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This Director of Business Development is responsible for expanding utility sales of Grip-Tite anchors and related products through a network of distribution partners serving the electrical utility market, with a strong focus on public power – including Co-Operative and Municipal customers. The Director will cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, identify new sales opportunities, and implement strategies to increase market share and drive product adoption in the utility sector.

In parallel, this role will oversee the expansion of our Foundation Repair business through a national network of authorized dealers. This includes developing, managing, and supporting the dealer network to ensure consistent growth and engagement. A key focus will be creating a strong support infrastructure—providing training, resources, and community development initiatives that empower dealers to succeed.

FOCUS:

  • Maintains contact with key prospects and distributor representatives on a regular basis to keep Grip-Tite’s products relevant and memorable.
  • Promotes Grip-Tite’s value proposition in the marketplace.
  • Meets and exceeds sales goals and KPIs through focused sales leadership initiatives.
  • Utilizes CRM to cultivate a pipeline and drive new business opportunities.
  • Conducts market analysis and strategies with internal and external parties to stay ahead of industry trends and competitor movements.
  • Develops and implements sales strategies that align with Grip-Tite’s overall business goals.
  • Ensures a smooth flow from order intake to order fulfillment to delivery for new customer segments.
  • Drives team initiatives to provide customers with effective solutions to assist in achieving their business goals.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of accurate records of products, pricing, sales, and activity of orders/shipments.
  • Spearheads initiatives to get in front of key decision makers that are strong prospects for Grip-Tite.
  • Augments up-selling and cross-selling opportunities of their team as well as partners on various marketing opportunities.
  • Utilizes client feedback to generate ideas about new features, products and / or service offerings.
  • Is engaged with a team of Grip-Tite employees to promote and ensure successful product launches.
  • Contacts prospective customers to determine customer needs and explains available products and services.
  • Researches and learns the Grip-Tite product line as well as competitor offerings to offer the best solutions based on customer interests and concerns.
  • Provides support and documentation on products and obtains technical assistance/support as needed.
  • Works with operations team to remove barriers that might impact producing to sales plan – scheduling, labor, materials, quality, shipping, etc.
  • May assist in the implementation of marketing plans.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess at least 8 years of applicable experience in sales.
  • Candidate must have sales knowledge and experience in a like market segment.
  • Ability to make bold decisions.
  • Ability to understand customers business needs and pain points.
  • Ability to lead and manage high performing teams and drive positive results.
  • Ability to think, act and work independently within a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a utility player and possess the ability to find resolutions to issues that arise.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in MS Office, ERP, and lead generation software.
  • Extremely organized.
  • Must have experience in being accountable to achieve departmental measures and metrics.
  • Articulate, and possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong business development skills.
  • Ability to take in product knowledge and explain/educate customers on product specifics – weights, installation methods, regulations, etc.
  • Work with internal technical staff and sales management as required.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management, or Engineering preferred. Will accept proven applicable sales experience in lieu of degree.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be expected to visit sites in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to changing temperatures (hot, cold, humid), moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noises. The noise level in the work environment can be loud; vibration levels are moderate.
