Assistant Estimator & Project Coordinator - Flooring Authority - Amsterdam, NY.

Do you thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment? Do you love variety in your work, enjoy problem-solving, and take pride in leading tasks to completion? If you're motivated to learn about the construction industry, work with a dynamic team, and contribute to successful projects, we want you to join us!

Family-run business providing top-notch commercial flooring sales and installation services to local general contractors and business owners. Commitment to quality, environmental consciousness, and professionalism.

The Role:

This is not your typical office job. If you're looking for a job where you're sitting behind a desk every day doing the same thing, this position isn't for you. This multi-faceted role combines estimating and project management responsibilities, and there's room for growth into leadership roles as you develop your skills and knowledge. You will be trained in the ins and outs of the construction industry, and you'll play a key role in supporting both estimating and project execution. We need someone who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and ready to take initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating:
  • Bid Sourcing & Response: Download and print plans and specs, and respond to bid invites.
  • Bid Tracking & Organization: Maintain an internal plan storage system, bid calendar, and track
addenda changes.
  • Scope Document Analysis: Research and read scope documents and blueprints to determine
the bid package requirements.
  • Digital Takeoffs: Use RFMS Measure software to assist with estimate preparation and takeoff
assembly.
  • Detailed Shop Drawings: Create detailed shop drawings for installers, including flooring
installation methods, transition details, and project-specific information. Project Management:
  • Post-Bid Correspondence: Work with general contractors estimating departments to track results.
  • Project Documentation: Compile awarded project paperwork including product submittals, closeout documentation, and contract documents.
  • Purchasing & Deliveries: Create and track purchase orders and coordinate deliveries to project sites.
  • Scheduling: Tracking & updating multiple project schedules to avoid conflicts and meet project deadlines
  • Change Order Management: Managing, pricing, and tracking all change orders, plan revisions, and RFI's.
  • Team Collaboration: Working with our company's on-site crew to proactively solve problems.
Creating pick tickets for our warehouse to use to gather necessary materials that need to be delivered to the project site in a timely manner.
  • Creation of project work order packages: provide work order tickets, which detail specific
instruction unique to each project; and creating and distributing detailed layout prints for installation of floor finishes specified on a project

Qualifications:

  • Attention to Detail: You must have impeccable attention to detail and be able to locate and process information that may not be readily available.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: You should be able to identify issues and come up with solutions
quickly and independently.
  • Technology Savvy: Strong computer skills are required. You'll need to work in G-mail, Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and industry-specific software like RFMS Measure, RFMS Core, and RFMS Warehouse.
  • Time Management: Excellent time management skills are crucial to handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Professional Attitude: We need someone with a strong work ethic who is comfortable working independently and within a team.
  • Construction Experience: Experience in construction or familiarity with the mentioned software is a plus, but not required.

FULL-TIME, $20-$25 per hour based on experience plus benefits
