Job Title: Grant Writer – Workforce Development & Skilled Trades
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Grant Writer to support our mission of expanding workforce development opportunities in manufacturing, public works, and skilled trades. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record securing funding from private foundations, corporate sponsors, and government sources, with a deep understanding of issues related to job training, economic mobility, and the skilled trades sector.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Research, identify, and evaluate funding opportunities aligned with our mission and programs
✔ Develop compelling, high-quality grant proposals, LOIs, and supporting materials for foundation, corporate, and government funders
✔ Collaborate with program staff to gather accurate data, success stories, and project details for submissions
✔ Maintain a calendar of deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements
✔ Track progress and success rates; provide regular updates to leadership
✔ Prepare reports, donor communications, and grant renewals as needed
✔ Contribute to broader fundraising and development strategies where applicable
Qualifications:
✅ Minimum 3 years of successful grant writing experience, with documented funding wins
✅ Prior experience fundraising for nonprofit organizations focused on workforce development, skilled trades, manufacturing, or public works
✅ Strong understanding of economic development, workforce policy, and labor market challenges
✅ Excellent written communication, research, and project management skills
✅ Ability to translate complex programs into clear, persuasive narratives
✅ Comfortable working independently and meeting tight deadlines
✅ Familiarity with donor databases, prospect research tools, and CRM systems is a plus
Preferred Experience:
Knowledge of federal and state workforce grants (e.g., Department of Labor, apprenticeship funding)
Relationships with relevant funders in the workforce development space
Experience collaborating with technical program staff and community partners
