Job Description

We are searching for 9th and 10th-grade Humanities Core Instructors. These are full-time faculty positions, teaching Monday-Thursday. The HCI will use their creativity, love for learning, and maturing biblical worldview to inspire young minds to consider how fields such as history, art, literature, the Bible, and geography affect their daily lives and future as Christ-followers. The HCI will seek to utilize existing curricula as well as integrate additional source material such as novels, maps, historical documents, and biographies. This position requires a high level of creativity and innovation in order to engage students in the material and learning process.  The HCI will also serve as the 9th or 10th grade advisor and home room teacher. This entails helping students choose elective classes, think critically about career and ministry, and serve as a primary point of contact for parents questions and concerns. Responsibilities: Instructional Duties: Teach all Core subjects, including English, history, geography, Bible, and other language arts courses as needed.  • Prepare to teach each subject with prayer and curiosity  • Keep appropriate records of student achievement, including grades  • Regularly communicate with parents about student progress and behavior  • Meet students as needed to answer questions about assignments or grades • Review lesson plans provided in the curriculum Discipleship/Advising: • Humanities Core Instructors are expected to look for opportunities to disciple (formally through instruction or informally through casual conversation) students.  • The HCI will advise students on which elective courses and internship opportunities will suit their career and personal goals. Qualifications: • A mature relationship with Jesus • A completed bachelor’s degree in humanities or a similar discipline • Experience teaching at the high school level  • Two references: one academic, one spiritual  • A love for teenagers/young adults • A love for learning About Company: Calvary Christian Academy is a ministry of Roseburg Christian Fellowship, in Roseburg, Oregon.
