Job Description and Duties

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by performing various fiscal analysis and forecasting for the Genetic Disease Screening Program’s (GDSP) Genetic Disease Testing Fund (GDTF) and provides management with recommendations and reports on procedures, policies, and program alternatives for Division-wide fiscal management.

The incumbent performs all duties under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager (SSM) I, Chief of the Fiscal Services Unit.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH’s Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.

Travel may be required for this position. Reimbursement for travel takes into consideration an employee’s designated headquarters, as reflected in the duty statement, and is subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Supplemental Questionnaire

Please submit answers to the questions listed below in a separate Word document uploaded along with your STD 678. Responses should not be longer than two pages, single-spaced, with 12 pt. font and 1-inch margins.

1. Describe a time when you had to analyze data and perform mathematical computations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to reconcile and verify account balances and forecast future expenditures. Please explain your process for ensuring accuracy. What were the challenges you encountered and how did you address them?

2. Provide an instance when you provided a recommendation to resolve a problem or provide an easier process. What method did you use? Was your recommendation accepted and implemented?
