More than 2,500 team members at more than 70 Tidelands Health locations bring our healing mission to life each day. **A Brief Overview** The Certified Medical Assistant functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The Medical Assistant, Certified performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly. **What you will do** + Accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams + Performing and documenting vital signs + Assisting with procedures + Preparing and administering medications with physician's authorization + Performing EKGs + Using CPR skills when required + Drawing blood + providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets + Responsible for stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times + Adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations **Education Qualifications** + High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred **Experience Qualifications** + At least 1 year of related customer facing experience Required + healthcare experience Preferred **Skills and Abilities** + Computer knowledge + Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients' families/visitors and clinical staff, including all levels of providers + Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail + Must be able to work independently with limited supervision + Phlebotomy skills and experience **Licenses and Certifications** + Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association Required or + Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants Required or + Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologist Required or + National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing Required + Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association Required **PAT Rating** Light Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating The intent of this job description is to provide a representative and level of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a contract for employment nor a declaration of the total of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
