LOCATION: City of Saratoga Springs NY – Department of Public Works

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly detailed in the application form on or before the last filing date:

• Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, engineering technology, or a closely related field and two (2) years full time paid experience in engineering projects or land use board and building construction review; or
• Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an Associate’s degree in construction technology, mechanical technology, information technology or a closely related field and four (4) years of full-time paid experience in engineering projects or land use board and building construction review; or
• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (6) years of full-time paid experience in engineering projects or land use board and building construction review.

SPECIAL NOTES:

Must possess a valid and current NYS driver’s license, and must maintain said license throughout the duration of employment. 

DUTIES: 

• Work involves the coordination of all engineering work related to Land Use Board reviews, approvals, and construction observation. 
• Primary responsibilities encompass the review of Planning Board projects to ensure compliance with engineering standard details and requirements along with the development and coordination of a long-term plan for infrastructure needs associated with development. 
• The performance of technical engineering work related to land use board projects through the application of advanced engineering principles and practices to a variety of engineering, utilities, and Public Works project and assignments. 
• Work is performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner of Public Works and the Deputy Commissioner of Public Works, or their designee. 
• Oversight may be exercised over a number of technical employees in the engineering department as required and related to land use board projects. Performs related work as required.
