Job Description

We are seeking skilled and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our dynamic Medical Surgical Nursing Unit in a teaching and research environment. This role involves providing exceptional patient care to diverse patient populations, including spinal cord injury, telemetry, orthopedics, medicine, oncology, neurology, acute rehabilitation, general surgery, and post-operative care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments, medication administration, IV therapy, and telemetry monitoring.
  • Coordinate care as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Manage admissions, discharges, and internal/external transfers.
  • Respond to emergencies, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Maintain competency in procedures such as NGT insertion, chest tube management, trach care, wound therapy, blood transfusions, Foley catheter insertion/discontinuation, thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar punctures, and 12-lead EKGs.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to assistive personnel effectively.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Transport patients safely and efficiently.

Work Schedule

  • Rotating eight (8), ten (10), and twelve (12)-hour shifts, including days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted RN license in one of the United States, Territories, or the District of Columbia.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications.
  • Proficiency in clinical skills specific to acute care settings.
  • Prior experience in a medical-surgical unit or similar environment (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Credentialing Requirements

Upon acceptance, the selected candidate must provide:

  • Credentialing release of information
  • Completed RN application and credentialing request form
  • Updated resume
  • Copies of BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Copy of valid driver’s license and social security card
  • Completed OF-306 form
