School Nurse LPN job at BrightStar of Lake County Indiana Merrillville, IN, US

Job Description

Job Summary: As a School Nurse with BrightStar of West Lake County, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of students in the Merrillville, Indiana area. The perfect candidate will have experience in the school or pediatric setting, be a self-starter, great with communication and enjoy working with grade school/middle school aged children. Responsibilities:

Provide direct nursing care to students in accordance with established policies and procedures
Conduct health screenings and assessments for students
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
Educate students on health-related topics, such as nutrition, hygiene, and injury prevention
Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all students
Communicate with parents/guardians and school staff regarding the health of students
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized healthcare plans
Monitor and track immunization and vaccination records for students
Respond to emergency situations and provide first aid treatment until emergency medical services arrive
Adhere to all state and federal healthcare regulations and guidelines

Requirements:

Current LPN license in the state of Indiana
Minimum of 2 years experience in a pediatric or school setting
CPR certification
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Knowledge of basic computer skills and electronic medical records
Ability to work a full-time schedule and maintain regular attendance
Must pass a background check and drug screening
