Fox Innovation and Technologies is a rotating equipment solution provider that upgrades existing turbomachines via, in part, utilizing advanced aerodynamic components. The candidate will have the skills to provide aerodynamic/engineering support for the development and design of turbomachinery. Activities include providing innovative aerodynamic solutions using engineering principles and tools. Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop new products and participate in all phases of product development including ideation, design, production, and testing.
• Engineer and test product prototypes to evaluate product performance.
• Support aerodynamics needs for client revamps.
• Provide engineering support for the development of a rules-based product line(s).
• Participate in internal design reviews with all project disciplines.
• Identify potential issues and propose redesigns to improve functionality.
• Guide designers and drafters who capture design intent with SolidWorks.
• Check and approve designs for release to manufacturing.
• Understand and respond to internal and external customer requests, both verbal and written.
• Handle changes and problems related to projects assigned, while meeting project deadlines and budgets. Additional Duties:
• Manage multiple priorities.
• Maintain safe and clean work environment; maintain compliance with all established company and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge.
• Support the consulting business and manufacturing operations with aerodynamic engineering expertise.
• Write and develop project and/or product specifications.
• Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• The work scope will include 1D, 2D streamline and 3D CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis work.
• Activities also include analysis process automation for geometry creation, meshing, boundary conditions and post processing results. The work scope may also include development of a 1D mean line aerodynamic code.
• Support testing with data reduction and observation, conclusions. The aerodynamic flow paths of all new stages are validated with an aerodynamics test rig which resides in the Fox development laboratory in Olean, New York.
• This position provides the aerodynamicist the opportunity to design, analyze and validate the product in a “hands-on” environment with experienced mentors.
• Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; collect and research data; use intuition and experience to complement data; design workflows and procedures.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks with a diversity of problems.
• Capability to work independently without close supervision and to know when to ask for help.
• Computer & MS Office skills are required.
• Ability to control costs, adhere to a schedule, and improve the quality of a product / service.
• Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; look for ways to improve and promote quality; monitor your own work to ensure quality.
• Meet productivity standards, complete work in a timely manner.
• Adapt to changes in the work environment; able to deal with change, delays, or unexpected events. Experience and Education:
• A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree (i.e BSME) required with 5-7 years of experience. A Master of Science degree is preferred.
• Computational Fluid Dynamics experience (ANSYS CFX) is preferred.
• Centrifugal compressor experience is preferred.
• Software programming experience with Python, Visual Basic (VBA) or MATLAB is a plus.
• Working knowledge in the usage of 3D Experience SolidWorks preferred. Location and additional details:
