About the Role

Trigent Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer and Tester to provide Performance Engineering, Test Automation, and Quality Assurance services in support of IRS-developed tax, administrative, and financial applications and systems. This role supports the IRS Enterprise Systems Testing (EST) program, ensuring secure, scalable, and high-quality software delivery for mission-critical applications.

The successful candidate will lead complex testing initiatives, design and implement automation frameworks, and ensure that releases meet rigorous standards for performance, security, compliance, and accessibility. You will work closely with IRS personnel, the prime contractor, and cross-functional teams, contributing to knowledge transfer, process improvement, and best practices adoption.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, planning, and execution of system, integration, performance, and accessibility testing for enterprise systems.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks, scripts, and processes.
• Conduct performance engineering activities, including load, stress, and scalability testing.
• Prepare and execute test plans; document test results, defects, and recommendations.
• Support knowledge transfer and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and desk instructions.
• Mentor and guide junior testers, fostering skills development and adherence to best practices.
• Collaborate with technical leads, developers, and stakeholders to align testing strategies with business goals.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD and Agile DevOps workflows.
• Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility requirements and IRS quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active IRS MBI Clearance (mandatory; no substitutions).
• U.S. Citizenship (mandatory).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years in software quality assurance, IT security, infrastructure, or systems testing.
• Proven experience with automated test tool selection, strategy, and implementation .
• Expertise with enterprise testing tools such as IBM Rational ETM, RFT, RPT, EWM .
• Hands-on experience with automation tools: Selenium, JMeter, LoadRunner, SOAPUI, Parasoft .
• Working knowledge of mainframe environments (IBM z/OS, Unisys), JCL, and scripting.
• Proficiency with relational databases: Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Greenplum .
• Ability to test across Windows, Linux, UNIX, Solaris platforms.
• Solid understanding of Agile, SDLC, and test lifecycle methodologies .

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility testing and assistive tools (JAWS, ZoomText, Dragon NaturallySpeaking).
• Experience with performance monitoring and diagnostics (AIX thread dumps, OEM, AWR, Splunk).
• Familiarity with enterprise scheduling tools (Control-M, OpCon).
• Background in ETL and data masking tools (Informatica, IBM Infosphere Optim).
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD and DevOps workflows .
• Strong documentation skills for SOPs, training materials, and process documentation.
