Job Description

Malace|HR is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at the GM Plant. The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of plant facilities, including production areas, offices, and common spaces. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for plant personnel and visitors. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, self-motivated, and comfortable working in an industrial environment. Wage: $19.04/hour

Key Responsibilities:

• General Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Sweep, mop, dust, and vacuum floors in plant offices, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.

  • Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines.

  • Clean windows, walls, and other surfaces in plant facilities.

• Restroom Cleaning and Sanitization:

  • Maintain clean and sanitary restrooms, including replenishing supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper).

  • Ensure proper sanitation and hygiene standards are consistently met.

• Facility Maintenance:

  • Ensure that all plant areas are clean, safe, and organized, including warehouse floors, equipment storage areas, and walkways.

  • Assist in minor maintenance tasks like changing light bulbs, replenishing cleaning supplies, and reporting any safety hazards or facility issues.

  • Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks as required.

• Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all safety guidelines and regulations, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

  • Ensure that cleaning materials and supplies are stored properly to avoid hazards.

  • Report safety hazards, damage, or maintenance needs to the Facilities Manager or Plant Supervisor.

• Trash and Recycling Management:

  • Sort and manage waste materials in accordance with company recycling and waste disposal policies.

  • Ensure that waste removal is conducted in a timely and environmentally responsible manner.

• Special Projects:

  • Assist in special cleaning projects, including cleaning after construction, equipment installations, or events.

  • Help set up and clean for meetings, training sessions, or other company events within the plant.

• Inventory and Supply Management:

  • Keep track of cleaning supplies and report shortages to management.

  • Assist with ordering and restocking cleaning materials and equipment.
