POSITION SUMMARY
Copia is seeking an investment associate in our Chicago Office. This position is suitable for individuals seeking a career in alternative investments, particularly investing in privately held, middle-market companies. The role involves working in a team-based environment supporting all aspects of the investment process: originating, structuring, and monitoring credit investments. Candidates must be well-organized and have the desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
§ Proficiency in financial statement analysis and modeling
§ Strong analytical skills and careful attention to detail
§ Sound understanding of capital structure and credit markets
§ Ability to think critically and problem solve effectively
§ Strong verbal and written communication skills
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Performing fundamental analysis of sectors and companies
§ Conducting due diligence on potential investments
§ Developing and maintaining detailed financial models
§ Assisting senior professionals with investment memoranda
§ Assisting senior professionals with monitoring of portfolio investments
§ Maintaining databases and updating processes and procedures
§ Assisting senior professionals with investor presentations
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
§ Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience (i.e. Private Credit, Private Equity, Commercial Banking, Investment Banking, Investment Management)
§ Proficiency with key software and databases (Microsoft Office Suite, Pitchbook, Capital IQ, Bloomberg)
§ 4yr degree required (Majors in finance, accounting, or economics strongly preferred)
§ Exemplary academic achievement and a track record of increasing responsibilities
