Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Hannover Re) is currently seeking talented candidates for a full-time Sr Actuary position, within the Life Solutions department. The purpose of this role is to ensure the financial success of Life Solutions through development and implementation of compelling reinsurance solutions for client companies that achieve appropriate returns relative to the risk profiles assumed by Hannover Re affiliates. Responsibilities include performing significant modelling and analysis, conducting product and industry research, helping prepare materials for management and client presentations, and participating in occasional discussions with clients and internal key stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

• (60%) Modelling in actuarial projection systems and other platforms to support the pricing, structuring, and ongoing risk analysis of life and/or long term care reinsurance solutions. Reviews prospective deal and product specifications, develops actuarial assumptions, and projects financial outcomes to assist in the development of reinsurance solutions. Works closely with various key stakeholders across the organization to support the pricing and risk evaluation processes. Produce all required documentation for final pricing package for desired opportunities.

• (20%) Evaluates treaties open for new business considering revised sales practices, underwriting requirements, product changes, and actuarial assumptions. Informs leadership of expectations along with recommended actions.

• (10%) Researches regulatory developments, product filings, client developments and other aspects necessary to ensure the relevance and value of life and/or long term care reinsurance solutions.

• (10%) Other ad-hoc / project-based responsibilities.

Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or similar
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA seeking FSA will be considered)
• 5+ years of experience in an actuarial role
• Excellent data analysis and technical skills
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Programming knowledge: R, SQL, VBA
• Actuarial modelling experience: Risk Agility, MG-ALFA, or similar
• Insurance product knowledge: Life insurance and/or long term care

Travel:

• 5% - Domestic travel to team and department meetings, industry conferences, and occasional client meetings.

Total Compensation Range (Inclusive of Base + Bonus):

• $111,500 - $198,100
